New laws to help DIY security systems

UK Government have proposed new laws to help DIY Security systems

DIY CCTV and Security sales are increasing year by year with the need of the UK public wanting to feel safe. When buying any technical product, we as consumers expect a certain level of security so we are not left in a vulnerable situation. With increased sales within the home DIY security market, large companies such as ‘Which’ have raised concerns, highlighting that more than 100,000 indoor wireless security cameras had critical flaws. Critical flaws in security implies that users are open to hacking, putting their homes and businesses at risk.

In July, the UK government proposed new laws to help protect smart user from cyber crimes. However, concerns are still rising, it is positive that the Government recognise there is a concern, but we cannot ignore the vulnerable situation consumers are in.

At D-TECT we understand that some consumers choose their security system based on budget and easy to install set-ups. At D-TECT when customer ask about wireless CCTV and Intruder alarm systems, here is what we have to say…

Old analogue technology should be avoided, and HD (high definition) and IP (internet protocol) camera systems are the way forward. With our D-TECT experience wired CCTV and intruder alarm systems offer the most robust solution, as they require no batteries and usually provide a much better-quality recording. We provide an entry level and a premium range to suit all client’s needs.

Of course, buying any security system relies on a good set-up and reliable software.

Read what our customers had to say when they tried the over the counter options:

“delayed recording” this could be because wireless systems need to retrieve the data from the cloud storage”.

the recording quality is poor”.

“cameras stop working on the app and I had to re-connect the devices multiple times. I know my internet signal is weak in those rooms”.

Choosing a CCTV or an intruder alarm system for your home or businesses is an investment, that is why here at D-TECT we only supply and install equipment that meets a certain standard. We are approved SSAIB (Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board) for CCTV, intruder alarm and access control installations.
